Is a VW Transporter a Good Campervan?

Are Campervans Fuel Efficient?

Generally, campervans are not as fuel-efficient as standard cars. They tend to be larger and heavier, which reduces fuel economy. However, some factors can influence fuel efficiency:

  • Size and weight of the campervan
  • Engine type (diesel tends to be more efficient for campervans)
  • Driving habits (highway driving is generally more efficient than city driving)

Typically camper conversions like VW Transporters will be more efficient than your standard campervan due to being a mid-size van. All of our converted campervans are diesel which is more fuel-efficient than petrol.

Why Do I Need Campervan Insurance?

Campervan insurance is essential for several reasons:

  • Accidents: It covers you in case of an accident, protecting you from financial responsibility for damage to your campervan or others involved
  • Theft: It provides coverage if your campervan is stolen
  • Liability: It protects you from lawsuits if someone is injured or their property is damaged due to your campervan use
  • Damage: It covers damage to your campervan from events like hail, fire, or vandalism

For converted campervans, your insurance provider must be aware that your campervan is a conversion to ensure you get an accurate insurance cost and coverage.
